If you are searching for house cleaning services in Davenport, Bettendorf or anywhere on the Iowa side of the Quad Cities, the first question is usually “how much?”. The honest answer is that it depends on a handful of things you can see and control. This guide explains our published starting prices, what moves a quote up or down, how a Quad Cities home compares with an apartment, and how to get a firm price before you book.
Our Iowa work is new: 1 completed Iowa job so far, a move-out clean in Davenport that came to $697 with add-ons. One job is not an average, so this guide sticks to our published starting prices and the factors that move them.
Our starting prices
Every service has a published starting price. It is the same in Iowa as in every state we work in, and it is the price for a small, well-kept home with no extras:
| Service | Starts at |
|---|---|
| Regular house cleaning | $160 |
| Move-out cleaning | $190 |
| Move-in cleaning | $180 |
| Deep cleaning | $200 |
| Post-construction cleaning | $250 |
| Carpet extraction | $45 / room |
| Appliance cleaning | $40 |
Your own price is worked out from your home and the job, then confirmed in writing before anything is booked. It does not change on the day unless you add work.
What every visit includes
The starting price is not a stripped-down service. Every regular clean covers kitchen counters, sink and the outside of appliances, bathrooms cleaned and sanitized, dusting from the top down, mirrors and glass, beds made, trash out and floors vacuumed and mopped. A deep clean adds baseboards, doors and frames by hand, vents, fans and light fixtures, grout and shower glass. A move-out clean adds the inside of every empty cabinet, closet and drawer. The team brings supplies and equipment, including the vacuum, so you don’t need to provide anything.
The five things that set your price
- Size: bedrooms, bathrooms and living areas. Bathrooms take the longest per square foot, so a second or third bathroom adds more than a bedroom does
- Type of clean: a regular clean maintains, a deep clean resets, and a move-out clean is a deep clean of an empty home with inside cabinets, closets and drawers included
- Condition: how long since the last thorough clean, grease in the kitchen, soap scum and scale in bathrooms, pet hair
- Extras: inside the oven and fridge, walls and ceilings, carpet extraction, windows, a basement or garage
- Access: stairs with heavy equipment, parking, gate codes and how far the home is from the nearest team
Basements change the job
Most Quad Cities houses have a basement, from a dry, finished family room to an unfinished space with the laundry, a second fridge and storage. A finished basement is cleaned like any other living area and is priced as extra rooms. An unfinished basement is usually a sweep, cobwebs, the laundry area and the stairs. Tell us which you have, and whether there is carpet down there: basement carpet in a river town often needs extraction after a humid summer.
Older homes, newer subdivisions and apartments
- Older Davenport houses: high ceilings, woodwork, radiators or older registers and more stairs mean more hand detailing
- Newer homes in Bettendorf, Eldridge and Le Claire: open plans and more bathrooms; construction dust in vents if the home is very new
- Farmhouses around De Witt, Tipton and Wilton: mudrooms, larger kitchens and outbuildings; longer drive times
- Apartments and duplexes: quicker, but check parking and building access
Seasonal jobs that cost more
Some jobs take longer at certain times of year. In spring, after a winter of road salt, entry floors and carpets need more work. In early summer, mayflies can cover screens, porches and window tracks near the river for a few weeks. After high water, a damp basement may need attention, though flood restoration is a specialist job, not a cleaning service. Booking a recurring plan keeps these seasonal extras small. Holiday weeks and the end of the month, when leases turn over, book up first, so give a week or two of notice then if you need a particular day.
Pets and allergies
Pet hair is one of the biggest single factors in how long a clean takes. It works into carpet, upholstery, vents and the corners of stairs, and needs extra vacuuming before anything else can be wiped. Mention pets when you book, and add pet hair removal or carpet extraction if the hair has built up. If someone in the home has allergies, tell us; a deep clean with vents, fans and soft furnishings vacuumed makes the biggest difference.
Regular, deep or move-out?
If the home has not had a thorough clean in a few months, start with a deep clean, then switch to a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly plan; the recurring visits are faster and cheaper because the build-up is gone. If you are leaving a rental, book a move-out clean: it includes the inside of cabinets, closets and drawers and follows the checklist landlords use. Moving in? A move-in clean is the same idea before your furniture arrives.
Extras worth adding
- Inside the oven and fridge: the first thing a landlord or buyer opens
- Walls and ceilings: scuffs by doors and stairs, kitchen film, cobwebs in high corners
- Carpet extraction: salt residue, pet hair and basement mustiness
- Windows and tracks: especially after mayfly season
- Appliances: dishwasher filters, washers and the basement fridge
Landlords and property managers
If you own rentals in Davenport, Bettendorf or Clinton, a turnover clean between tenants is priced the same way as a move-out clean: by size, condition and extras. Send the address, lockbox or access details and the move-out date, and ask for photos when the team finishes, so you have a dated record of the condition the next tenant receives.
Questions to ask any cleaning service
- Is the price confirmed in writing before the visit, and can it change on the day?
- What exactly is on the checklist for this type of clean?
- Are the cleaners vetted and insured?
- Do they bring their own supplies and equipment?
- What happens if something is missed?
Our answers: yes, the price is confirmed first and only changes if you add work; the checklist is published for every service; teams are vetted and insured and bring everything; and anything missed is put right if you tell us within 36 hours.
How to get an exact price
Book online in about two minutes and the price is calculated from your answers, or ask for a free written quote and send a few photos of the kitchen, bathrooms and any problem areas. We confirm the price and a vetted local team before anything is booked. If anything on the checklist is missed, tell us within 36 hours and we come back to put it right.
Ways to keep the price down
- Declutter counters, floors and the basement stairs before the visit
- Choose the extras you really need and skip the rest
- Empty the fridge and freezer before an appliance clean
- Send photos so the quote is right first time
- Keep the result with a recurring plan instead of repeated deep cleans
