What move-out cleaning costs in Louisville

Our move-out cleaning starts at $190 for a small apartment. Real totals depend on bedrooms and bathrooms, the condition of the home and the extras you add. Three-bedroom homes are the size we clean most often in Kentucky, and they came to a median of $550:

What the base price includes

Every move-out clean covers the kitchen inside and out, including cabinets and drawers; bathrooms descaled and sanitized; baseboards, doors, frames and switches wiped; window sills and tracks; and floors vacuumed and mopped throughout. Inside the oven and fridge are added on request, and the price you approve lists every extra before the team is booked.

What changes the price

  • Size: bedrooms, bathrooms and extra rooms such as a finished basement, study, sunroom or bonus room
  • Condition: grease in the kitchen, soap scum in showers, pet hair, dust on radiators and vents
  • Inside appliances: oven, double oven, fridge, microwave and dishwasher cleaned inside (appliance cleaning starts from $40)
  • Basement: an unfinished or damp basement adds time; a finished one is cleaned like any other room
  • Carpet and upholstery: extraction from $45 a room, sofas and rugs, offered across our Kentucky coverage
  • Outside: exterior windows, a garage, porch or deck

What Louisville landlords check at move-out

Louisville Metro has adopted Kentucky’s Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant Act, so at the end of a tenancy the landlord compiles a written list of damage, which you can inspect and dispute in writing. The list usually covers the same places in every home we clean:

  • Kitchen: inside the oven, fridge, freezer, microwave and cabinets; a degreased range hood
  • Bathrooms: soap scum, hard-water marks and mildew on grout and caulk
  • Radiators, vents, return grilles and ceiling fans
  • Baseboards, doors, frames, switches, window sills and tracks
  • Floors and carpets, especially salt residue and grit at entrances after winter
  • The basement, laundry area and garage

Older Louisville homes

Shotgun houses in Germantown, Schnitzelburg and Butchertown and Victorian homes in Old Louisville and the Highlands are full of character and take longer to clean than their square footage suggests. Tall ceilings, deep trim, transoms, radiators, built-ins and original wood floors all need detail work, and many have basements with stone or block walls. Tell us about high ceilings and radiators when you ask for a price, and use a wood-floor cleaner rather than a wet mop on original floors.

Fort Knox and relocation moves

Radcliff, Vine Grove, Muldraugh and the Fort Knox area see a steady flow of military moves, and orders rarely line up neatly with a lease. Plan the clean between the day the movers load and the final inspection, when the home is empty and you can still let the team in. Send the housing office’s or landlord’s checklist with the booking, keep a vacuum and supplies out of the shipment, and arrange key access if you will already be gone.

Moving out with pets

Pets are the most common reason a move-out clean takes longer than expected. Hair works into carpet, vents, radiators, baseboards and stair treads, and odors linger in carpet and padding. Add pet hair removal to the booking, vacuum thoroughly before the team arrives if you can, and book carpet extraction in the same visit. Change the HVAC filter so hair isn’t blown back into the clean rooms, and check the basement and screened porch, where pets often spend time.

Apartments and condos

Louisville apartments and condos are quicker to clean than houses, but management companies often have detailed move-out checklists and charge set fees for each missed item. Ask for the checklist when you give notice and send it with your booking. Balconies, sliding-door tracks, the inside of the dishwasher and the range hood filter are the items most often missed. If the building has a freight elevator or loading dock, tell us the rules so the team can plan access.

Move-out, deep or pre-sale clean?

A move-out clean is for an empty home and follows the landlord’s list, including inside cabinets and closets. A deep clean is for a lived-in home and reaches radiators, vents, fans and grout around your furniture. A pre-sale clean gets a home ready for listing photos and showings. If you own the home and are selling after you move out, one move-out clean done before the photographer arrives usually covers both jobs.

When to book

Kentucky leases turn over all year, but late spring and summer are busiest, and Derby week in early May fills calendars across Louisville. Book one to two weeks ahead from May to August, and schedule the clean after the movers leave and before the final inspection. In winter, book the clean after the last snow or ice of your move week if you can, so salt isn’t tracked back in.

Questions to ask any cleaning company

  • Is the price confirmed in writing before the visit, and what would change it?
  • Are the cleaners vetted and insured, and do they bring their own supplies?
  • Is there a written checklist that matches your landlord’s?
  • Will they clean the basement, radiators and inside appliances?
  • What happens if the inspection finds something that was missed?

How to keep the price down

  • Empty the home completely, including the basement, closets and the garage
  • Defrost and empty the fridge and freezer the day before
  • Send photos with your quote request so the price can be confirmed first
  • Point out problem areas in advance: heavy grease, pet hair, a damp basement or salt stains
  • Combine move-out and carpet cleaning in one visit
