Key takeaways
  • Starting prices are published and the same in Connecticut as everywhere we work.
  • Bathrooms add more time than bedrooms.
  • Colonials with basements and walk-up stairs take longer than condos.
  • Condition and extras explain most differences between quotes.
  • Carpet cleaning is not offered in the Greenwich, Stamford and Norwalk area.

Ask three cleaning companies in Greater Hartford for a price and you may get three very different numbers. That is not always because one is cheap and another expensive; it is usually because each one is pricing a different job. This guide explains what actually drives the cost of house cleaning, deep cleaning and move-out cleaning in Connecticut, using our published starting prices, so you can compare quotes fairly and get an exact price before anything is booked.

Our starting prices

We publish a starting price for every service, and it is the same in Hartford, Tolland County and Fairfield County as everywhere else we work. Your final price is built up from there and confirmed in writing before you book.

Published starting prices, the same in Connecticut as everywhere we work
ServiceStarts at
Regular house cleaning$160 a visit
Move-out or move-in cleaning$190
Deep cleaning$200
Pre-sale cleaning$220
Post-construction cleaning$250
Hoarder and heavy-duty cleaning$400
Inside an appliance (oven, fridge)$40 each
Carpet cleaning$45 a room

For a sense of scale, these are the 3 Connecticut jobs we have completed so far, each a different service. They are single examples, not averages, and each total includes the extras listed.

Connecticut jobs completed in 2026, totals with add-ons
ServiceHomeExtras addedTotal paid
Move-out clean5-bedroom homeappliances cleaned inside, double oven cleaned inside and walls & ceilings dusted and wiped$1,133
Deep clean3-bedroom homeappliances cleaned inside$541
Heavy-duty clean-out3-bedroom homeappliances cleaned inside, walls washed and pet hair removal$1,595

The large totals come from large homes and long lists of extras. Most apartments and smaller homes cost far less, starting from the prices above.

Factor 1: size, and bathrooms in particular

Bedrooms matter, but bathrooms matter more. A bathroom has tile, grout, glass, a toilet, fixtures and a floor that all need scrubbing, and it takes far longer than a bedroom of the same floor area. A three-bedroom colonial with two and a half baths will cost noticeably more than a three-bedroom ranch with one. When you ask for a quote, give the number of full and half bathrooms as well as bedrooms.

Factor 2: the kind of home

Connecticut housing is varied, and each type cleans differently:

  • Hartford apartments and “perfect six” houses: the brick six-family buildings common in Hartford have generous rooms, original trim and back porches. Walk-up stairs add carrying time
  • Colonials and capes: the classic Connecticut family home, often with a finished or partly finished basement, several staircases and a formal dining room. Each floor adds time
  • Split-levels and raised ranches: common in the suburbs around Manchester, Vernon and Enfield; short flights of stairs between levels and a lower-level family room
  • Condos and townhomes: compact and quicker to clean, which keeps the price close to the starting point
  • Farmhouses in the Quiet Corner: older layouts, mudrooms and wide-plank floors that need gentle products

Factor 3: condition

A home cleaned regularly is quick to clean. A home that has not had a thorough clean in a year, or has heavy kitchen grease, soap scum, pet hair or smoke residue, takes more time and costs more. This is the biggest reason two quotes for the same size of home can differ. Photos sent with a quote request let us price condition accurately the first time.

Factor 4: extras

Extras are where totals grow. The ones Connecticut customers choose most are inside the oven and fridge, walls and ceilings wiped, and basement areas. Each is priced separately, so you only pay for what you choose. In our Connecticut jobs so far, appliances cleaned inside was added every time.

  • Inside oven, fridge, microwave or dishwasher: from $40 each
  • Carpet extraction: from $45 a room in Greater Hartford, Tolland County and the Quiet Corner (not offered in the Greenwich, Stamford and Norwalk area)
  • Walls wiped or washed, inside windows, blinds, cabinets inside
  • Basement, garage or porch

Factor 5: timing

Prices do not jump in busy weeks, but availability does. In Connecticut the busiest periods are spring, when everyone wants the salt and pollen out of the house, the end of May when students leave UConn in Storrs, and late summer when many leases turn over. Book a week or two ahead for those times. Same-day cleaning is possible when a local team is free and starts at $200.

Factor 6: access and parking

Downtown Hartford, Stamford and Norwalk apartments can mean paid parking, loading docks and building rules about elevators and service hours. Tell us where the team can park and how they get in. A team that loses half an hour looking for parking is half an hour not cleaning, and the quote should reflect the real job.

Which service do you actually need?

Choosing the right service is the easiest way to avoid paying for more than you need. A regular clean (from $160) suits a home that is already in decent shape and needs keeping that way. A deep clean (from $200) is for a home that has not had a thorough clean in months, or before guests, a holiday or a new recurring plan. A move-out or move-in clean (from $190) is for an empty home, with inside cabinets, closets and drawers included because nothing is in the way. A pre-sale clean (from $220) is aimed at listing photos and showings. If you are not sure, describe the home and what you want to achieve, and we will suggest the right one.

Recurring plans cost less per visit

A home cleaned every week or two never builds up the grease, soap scum and dust that make a one-off clean long. That is why recurring visits cost less per visit than the same home cleaned once a year. Many Connecticut customers start with one deep clean to reset the home, then switch to a bi-weekly plan with the same team on a fixed day.

How to compare quotes

  • Ask whether the price is fixed or hourly, and what happens if the job takes longer
  • Ask which rooms and which extras are included, line by line
  • Ask whether cleaners are vetted and insured
  • Ask what happens if something is missed; our answer is a re-clean if you tell us within 36 hours
  • Compare like with like: a deep clean with inside appliances is a different job from a standard clean

Ways to keep the cost down

  • Clear counters, floors and closets before the team arrives
  • Choose only the extras you need
  • Send photos so the price is right the first time
  • After a deep clean, switch to a regular plan; a home kept up bi-weekly costs less per visit
  • Combine services in one visit, such as a move-out clean with carpet cleaning where it is offered
