What move-out cleaning costs in North Carolina

Our move-out cleaning starts at $190 for a small apartment. Real totals depend on bedrooms and bathrooms, the condition of the home and the extras you add. These are the totals North Carolina customers paid, by home size:

North Carolina move-in and move-out cleaning, completed jobs, January–October 2026, add-ons included
Home sizeMedian paidRange paidJobs
2 bedrooms$338$245–$4603
3 bedrooms$692$338–$8387
4 bedrooms$580$517–$6393

The sample is still small, so treat the ranges as a guide rather than a quote: a 3-bedroom with carpets extracted, appliances cleaned inside and walls wiped costs far more than an empty, well-kept one, which is why a 3-bedroom can come out above a 4-bedroom. Your own price is always confirmed in writing before you book.

The extras North Carolina movers add most

Out of 15 North Carolina move jobs, 7 added walls and ceilings wiped and 6 added appliances cleaned inside and out. 4 added deep carpet cleaning and 3 pet hair removal. Carpet cleaning is available from our Triangle and Triad teams; in the Charlotte area it is not offered yet, so plan a separate carpet company there if your lease requires it.

What North Carolina landlords check at move-out

Inspections across the Piedmont turn up the same problems again and again. Pine pollen settles in window tracks, sliders and screens every spring. Red clay from yards and building lots stains entry floors, grout and carpet. Humid summers leave mildew on shower grout, caulk and closet walls, and HVAC returns collect dust. Our checklist covers:

  • Kitchen: inside the oven, fridge, microwave and cabinets, range hood degreased, sink and counters
  • Bathrooms: showers and glass descaled, mildew removed from grout and caulk, toilets and vanities sanitized
  • HVAC supply vents and return grilles wiped
  • Window sills, tracks and sliders cleared of pollen and grit
  • Baseboards, doors, frames and switches
  • Entry floors cleaned of red clay residue

Your deposit in North Carolina

Under the Tenant Security Deposit Act, a landlord has 30 days after the tenancy ends and you return possession to refund the deposit or send an itemized list of deductions. If the damage cannot be finalized in that time, an interim accounting is due within 30 days and the final one within 60. Normal wear and tear cannot be charged. Our North Carolina tenant move-out rights guide covers the details; laws change, so check the current statute.

When to book

11 of our 15 North Carolina move cleans fell between May and August, with June the busiest month. Around the campuses in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Charlotte, Greensboro and Winston-Salem, the second half of May and the start of August are the tightest weeks. Book one to two weeks ahead then, and schedule the clean after the movers leave.

How to keep the price down

  • Empty the home completely before the cleaners arrive
  • Defrost and empty the fridge the day before
  • Send photos with the quote request so the price is confirmed first
  • Combine move-out and carpet cleaning in one visit where it is offered
  • Point out problem areas in advance: pet hair, heavy grease, clay stains
