A fast response helps after a party, but speed should not mean guessing. The safest after-party spill cleanup starts by identifying the surface, lifting solids, blotting liquid and checking the care instructions before applying a product.
Secure broken glass first
Keep people and pets away from the area. Use a brush and dustpan for visible pieces, then inspect under furniture and along baseboards with a flashlight. Do not pick through a trash bag by hand. Follow local disposal requirements for broken glass.
Lift before you blot
Use a spoon or dull edge to lift food and other solids without pushing them deeper. Blot liquid with a clean white cloth, working from the outside toward the center. Rubbing spreads color and can distort carpet or upholstery fibers.
Check the material
