After-party cleaning is faster when the first pass is about safety and sorting, not scrubbing. Open the curtains, ventilate the rooms, put on gloves and work in a fixed direction so broken glass, food and sticky spills are removed before floors are cleaned.
Make the space safe first
Keep children and pets out. Pick up visible glass with a brush and dustpan, then check under furniture and along baseboards with a flashlight. Never push broken glass into a trash bag by hand. Use a rigid container if local disposal rules require it.
Sort before wiping
Use separate containers for recyclables, ordinary trash, dishes and items guests left behind. Empty cups before moving them and check plates for utensils. Clearing the room reveals spills and prevents a half-full glass from being knocked over during cleaning.
Deal with food promptly
Refrigerate food that remained within its safe holding window and discard anything questionable. Scrape plates into the trash rather than the sink. Load the dishwasher, soak cookware and wipe the dining surface before crumbs reach the floor.
Blot spills instead of spreading them
On carpet or upholstery, lift solids and blot liquid with a clean white cloth. Work from the outside inward. Do not scrub a colored drink across a wider area or mix stain treatments. Test products in a hidden spot and follow textile care instructions.
Reset the bathroom
Remove trash, replace towels, clean the toilet, wipe the sink and faucet, and disinfect high-touch points for the product's stated contact time. Check the floor around the toilet and behind the door. Restock paper after wet surfaces are finished.
Clean touch points and surfaces
Wipe handles, switches, railings and table edges, then clean kitchen counters with a suitable product. Use separate cloths in the bathroom and kitchen. Return cushions and lightweight furniture only after the surface beneath is clean and dry.
Finish with floors
Vacuum before mopping so crumbs do not become paste. Move from the farthest room toward the exit. Check under sofas, behind doors and around outdoor seating, then take waste out so odors do not settle overnight.
