What fits comfortably in a short visit
A focused last-minute cleaning pass typically covers the surfaces people see and touch: kitchen worktops and sink, hob fronts, bathroom sanitaryware and mirrors, floors throughout, dusting of open surfaces, bins emptied, and a general tidy so rooms read as clean. That is the work that changes how a property feels on arrival.
What usually does not
Oven interiors, inside cabinetry, limescale that has built up over months, carpet extraction, window exteriors and wall washing are deep-clean tasks. They take time that a short visit does not contain. If one of them is the actual problem, say so when booking so the visit is scoped around it rather than around everything else.
Brief by priority, not by room list
The single most useful thing you can do is rank. Tell the team which two or three rooms matter most and what the visit is for — a viewing, a handover, guests, an inspection. A clean aimed at photographs concentrates on sight lines and glass; one aimed at an inspection concentrates on the kitchen and bathroom.
Clear the surfaces first
Cleaning time spent moving your belongings is cleaning time not spent cleaning. Clearing worktops, floors and side tables before the team arrives measurably increases how much of the property actually gets cleaned in the same booking.
Access and timing
Same-day slots depend on availability in your area on that day, so the earlier in the day you ask, the more likely a slot exists. Confirm entry arrangements up front — key, code or someone present — because a team waiting outside is burning the very hours you booked.
When to book a deep clean instead
