Move-out Cleaning in Maine

What move-out cleaning includes in Maine

A move-out clean gets a home ready for inspection and the next tenant or buyer. We work to the checklist landlords and property managers use, so the areas most likely to cost you part of your deposit are done properly.

The same checklist on every move-out cleaning job across Maine, from $190. Point out anything that needs special attention when you book, and your team will plan for it.

Move-out cleaning and Maine deposits

Under Maine law (14 M.R.S. §§6031–6038) a deposit can’t be more than two months’ rent. The landlord must return it, or send a written, itemized list of deductions with the balance, within the time in your written rental agreement but no more than 30 days, or within 21 days for a tenancy at will. A deposit can’t be kept for normal wear and tear. Check the current statute; this is general information, not legal advice.

The items most often noted at Maine move-outs are greasy ovens, bathroom grout and iron stains from well water, sand ground into entry floors, ash around woodstoves and mildew in closets and bathrooms near the coast. Book the clean after the movers, photograph every room when the team finishes and give your forwarding address in writing.

• Give your forwarding address in writing
• Ask for the hearth, entry and bathrooms
• Mention well-water stains when you book
• Take dated photos when the team finishes
