Event Cleaning Services — Pre-Event, During-Event and Same-Night Strike-Down Crews

Event cleaning is not one job. It is up to three: the presentation clean before doors open, the porter cover that keeps restrooms and tables usable while the event runs, and the strike-down that returns the venue to its hire condition, usually the same night.

Pricing is crew-hours, not guest count. Budget $45–$65 per crew member per hour with a three-hour minimum, so a two-person post-event clean of a small hall lands around $270–$390 and a full wedding venue reset with four crew runs $540–$1,040. Waste removal, if the venue does not take it, is quoted separately.

Same-night availability is the point of the service, and it is what needs booking earliest — a Saturday in June is the hardest slot in the calendar to fill at short notice.

Who this is for

Wedding and event planners

You are contractually on the hook for the venue hand-back and the deposit, and you need a crew that arrives at the out-time in the contract, not an hour after the last guest wanders off.

Venue and hall managers

Back-to-back bookings mean the room has to be usable again by morning. You want the same crew each time, familiar with your bin store, your floor finish and your key handover.

Corporate and conference organisers

Restrooms and breakout rooms have to hold up across a full day of delegates. Porter cover through the event is what stops the complaints reaching the feedback form.

Festival and outdoor event operators

Volume waste, grounds litter and a site that has to be cleared before the council inspection. This is crew logistics with cleaning attached.

Households hosting large parties

If the event is at your home rather than a venue, the after-party page is the closer fit — see after party cleaning for the domestic version of the same night.

What pushes the price to the top of the band

  • A same-night finish after midnight, which is a shift-premium job for the crew rather than a scheduling preference.
  • Venues with no water access on the floor, or where equipment has to be carried up stairs because service lifts stop at 10pm.
  • Alcohol-heavy events: sticky floors need a wash and a rinse pass, not a mop, and spilled red wine on carpet is a treatment, not a wipe.
  • Waste the venue will not take. Bagged waste leaving in our vehicles is a haulage cost and is quoted as its own line.
  • Confetti, glitter, biodegradable petals and balloon debris. All four take longer to clear than anything else on a wedding floor.
What brings it down

Book the strike-down at the same time as the venue rather than the week of the event, keep the crew's access route and bin store confirmed in writing, and let us start clearing tables while the last guests are still in the bar. Those three together typically take an hour off the job.

The number that actually matters

Times are time on site, not door-to-door. Crews arrive with their own equipment and a confirmed access contact; the clock starts when the last guest area is released to us, which is the one thing worth nailing down in advance.

What's included

  • All waste bagged, tied and taken to the venue's bin store, or loaded out where the venue does not accept event waste
  • Tables and bar surfaces cleared, wiped and sanitised; glassware and crockery gathered to a single point for the caterer
  • Floors swept and mopped, or vacuumed where carpeted, with spot treatment on spills
  • Restrooms cleaned, restocked from supplied consumables and checked before hand-back
  • Chairs and tables stacked and returned to the venue's storage layout where that is part of the hire agreement
  • Entrance, approach and outdoor smoking areas litter-picked
  • Photo hand-back set on request, so the organiser can evidence the venue's condition without driving back

What's not included, unless you ask

  • Licensed waste-carrier disposal of hazardous material, which is a separate regulated service
  • Deep carpet extraction or floor machine polishing — both are bookable, but as a scheduled follow-up rather than at 2am
  • Marquee, staging, AV and furniture hire strike-down, which belongs to the supplier who installed it
  • Security, door supervision or guest management of any kind
  • Dishwashing to a commercial kitchen standard, which stays with the caterer

What happens on the day

01

Access confirmed

One named contact, one phone number, and where the crew parks. Most delays on event work are access delays, not cleaning delays.

02

Walk-through

Two minutes with the organiser or the duty manager to agree what the hand-back condition is and where the waste goes.

03

Clear

Everything that is not fixed to the floor comes off it first — waste, glassware, linen, decorations. Nothing is cleaned around.

04

Clean

Surfaces, then restrooms, then floors, in that order, so nothing already finished gets walked over.

05

Reset

Chairs, tables and furniture back to the venue's standing layout.

06

Hand back

Final check with the duty manager, keys or access returned, photo set sent if requested.

The three phases of event cleaning

Pre-event cleaning

The presentation clean, done in the hours before doors open. Floors, glass, restrooms stocked and checked, bar and catering surfaces wiped down, entrance and approach cleared. Usually two to four hours for a crew of two, scheduled to finish thirty minutes before the first guest arrives so the venue never looks mid-clean.

During-event cleaning

A porter crew that stays on site: restroom checks on a rota, bins swapped before they overflow, glass and plate clearing from tables, spills dealt with in minutes rather than at the end. Priced hourly per person with a minimum block, and the single biggest difference between an event that reads as well-run and one that does not.

Post-event cleaning

The strike-down. Waste bagged and removed or consolidated to the venue's bins, floors swept and mopped or vacuumed, tables and chairs cleared, restrooms reset, and the space handed back in the condition the hire agreement requires. Same-night finishes are the normal request and the reason most organisers call at all.

Most bookings are two of the three — a pre-event presentation clean and a post-event strike-down, with porters added only when the event runs longer than four hours or serves food throughout.

Venues we cover

The venue decides the job far more than the guest count does. Five hundred people in a hotel ballroom is a lighter night than eighty in a converted warehouse with no water on the floor.

Venue typeWhat drives the work
Weddings & receptionsGlassware and floral debris, a hard contractual out-time on the venue, and a floor that has to be handed back in its original state to release the deposit.
Corporate events & conferencesRestroom servicing on a schedule through the day, breakout-room resets between sessions, and catering areas cleared while sessions run.
Festivals & outdoor eventsVolume waste, bin runs, grounds litter picking and a long post-event sweep. Weather changes the job more than anything else on this list.
Private parties & milestone birthdaysKitchen and bar recovery, sticky floors, spill treatment on carpet and upholstery, and a same-night finish so the household wakes up to a normal home.
Community halls, churches, schoolsA fixed hand-back time to the next booking, chair and table stacking, and floors that get mopped rather than machine scrubbed.
Pop-ups, launches, showroomsPresentation cleaning before doors open — glass, floors, restrooms — then a fast strike-down clean the same evening.

Every one of these is quoted the same way: crew size multiplied by hours on site, plus waste handling if the venue does not provide it. Nothing about the guest number changes the price on its own.

When to book

  • Saturdays from May to October book out first. If your date is in that window, put the crew in when you sign the venue.
  • Corporate and conference cover needs about two weeks — less about capacity, more about the site induction some venues require.
  • Same-week and next-day event bookings are taken when crews are free, and genuinely often are midweek. Call rather than fill in a form if the event is inside 48 hours.
  • For recurring venue work — a hall with weekly bookings, a members' club with monthly events — ask about a standing crew. Same faces, same rate, no re-briefing.

The details most people learn the hard way

  • Crews are independent professionals working under their own insurance, briefed on your venue's access, waste and hand-back requirements before the date.
  • We quote crew-hours because that is what the job costs. Anyone quoting a flat price off a guest number has not asked about the venue, and the difference shows up as an argument at 1am.
  • Venue hire agreements usually contain the hand-back standard in writing. Send it with the enquiry and we will quote to it, rather than to a general idea of clean.
  • If the venue holds a deposit against condition, the photo hand-back set is worth requesting. It is the cheapest evidence you will ever collect.

Frequently asked questions

How much do cleaners for events cost?

Event cleaning is priced by crew-hour, at $45–$65 per crew member per hour with a three-hour minimum. A two-person post-event clean of a small hall is $270–$390; a full wedding venue reset with three or four crew runs $540–$1,040. Waste removal is quoted separately when the venue does not accept event waste.

Do you clean during the event as well as after it?

Yes. Porter cover is a separate booking: crew stay on site through the event, service restrooms on a rota, swap bins before they overflow, clear glassware and deal with spills as they happen. It is charged per porter per hour and is usually booked alongside the post-event strike-down.

Can you clean the same night, after midnight?

Same-night finishes are the normal booking for event work, and yes, that includes after midnight. Overnight finishes carry a shift premium because of the hour, not because of the work. Confirm the venue's out-time when you book so the crew is scheduled against it.

What kinds of events do you cover?

Weddings and receptions, corporate events and conferences, festivals and outdoor events, private parties, community hall and church bookings, and pop-ups or product launches. The venue type shapes the crew size and the time on site far more than the guest count does.

Is this the same as after party cleaning?

No, and we keep them separate on purpose. After party cleaning is the domestic job — your home, the morning after. Event cleaning is the venue job: an organiser, a hire agreement, a hand-back time and often a crew rather than a pair.

Do you take the waste away?

We bag and consolidate all event waste to the venue's bin store as standard. Where the venue will not take it, we load it out and dispose of it, quoted per load at $120–$280. Hazardous waste needs a licensed carrier and we will say so rather than take it.

How far in advance should an event cleaning company be booked?

Summer Saturdays should be booked when you book the venue. Corporate cover needs about two weeks for site induction. Everything else is often available inside the same week, and short-notice bookings are worth phoning through rather than submitting online.

Do you work at venues you have not cleaned before?

Routinely. What we need in advance is the access contact, the parking and equipment route, where the waste goes and the hand-back standard from the hire agreement. Those four answers are the whole briefing.

Coverage

Event crews are booked through the states we currently staff, and each area page shows its own live status rather than a national claim. Post-event work in a new-build or refurbished venue is often a post-construction clean rather than an event clean — say so when you enquire and we will quote the right one. Coverage status is shown per area on the locations directory — we do not list an area we cannot staff.
